About Us

BackGround

In 2010, the San Francisco Subtidal Habitat Goals Project (SFSHGP) published a 50-Year Conservation Plan. The  Project underscores the necessity to design, develop, and sustain the San Francisco shoreline as resilient to  climate change, global warming, rising sea levels, coastal erosion, and other progressive threats of Nature.  Equally important, the Project is a critical call-to-action to mitigate perilous effects of sea level rise.

Introduction

Renew San Francisco Bay is an emerging citizen action group initiated in June 2023. Led by Jordan Bow of Royal  Hawaiian Seafood in South San Francisco, RSFB is committed to rehabilitation of the California shoreline  extending from Oyster Point to Candlestick Park, measuring approximately 408 acres, known as Operating Land  Unit (OLU) 28. This region, among others, is designated as a potential restoration site in the San Francisco  Subtidal Habitat Goals Project.

Mission & Values

RSFB aims to restore and sustain the health of the subject region’s shoreline and ecosystem. In collaboration  and partnership with federal, state, regional, and local efforts, RSFB envisions shoreline and ecosystem fortification as well as contributing to the San Francisco Bay Trail project toward a continuous interconnected  public trail system along the region.

Strategy

Using science-based methodology and education, review of regional success and failures, funding through grants  and fundraisers, collaboration and partnership, RSFB intends to execute efforts holistically and inclusively.

Stakeholders & beneficiaries

To optimize successful planning, design, development, and implementation of mission and vision, RSFB recognizes the critical involvement of agencies, groups, academic institutions, and individuals, with whom to  collaborate and partner, including but not limited to:
• Federal agencies for consultancy and funding, such as Partners for Fish and Wildlife • State agencies for consultancy and funding, such as State Coastal Conservancy
• County-partnered agencies such as SPUR and One Shoreline
• Local agencies such as the Department of Parks of Brisbane and South San Francisco, respectively • Academic institutions focused on ecosystem health such as UC Davis and SF State University

• Transportation agencies such as SamTrans, Caltrain, BART

• Private landowners
• Native aqua ecosystem and migratory species
• Pedestrian user groups such as those in wheelchairs or strollers, on foot, bicycles, or horses
